A Manager's Critical Role as IS Change Agent: A Case of Packaged Software Implementation in China
نویسندگان
چکیده
This case study explores the change agent roles a manager can play to support an IS specialist when implementing packaged software. The case concerns a small US-Chinese joint venture, located in China. In part, because of the support roles played by the manager, the IS implementation eventually succeeded. The IS change agent models hypothesized by Markus and Benjamin (l996) serve as a lens to interpret the case. A framework is offered for perceiving how managers can provide change agent support in an IS implementation in general, and in particular in a packaged software implementation in a USChinese joint venture. Implications for practitioners and researchers are addressed.

IS Change Agents in Practice in a US-Chinese Joint Venture
This chapter presents a case study that documents how information systems (IS) principals in China strategically shifted to different change agent roles to accommodate various IS implementation contingencies in the organization. The case concerns a USChinese joint venture, located in China. The change agent models hypothesized by Markus and Benjamin (l996) serve as a lens to interpret the case....

Technological advancement in the manufacturing system in current scenario is inevitable due to today’s customer-driven and volatile nature of the market. Implementation of agent technology in a manufacturing system increases flexibility which handles uncertainty generated due to advance technology. Therefore, in this paper, the critical drivers affecting implementation of agent technology are i...
متن کاملA Fuzzy AHP-TOPSIS Framework for the Risk Assessment of Green Supply Chain Implementation in the Textile Industry
In the emerging supply chain environment, green supply chain risk management plays a significant role than ever. Risk is an inherent uncertainty and has tendency to disrupt the typical green supply chain management (GSCM) operations and eventually reduce the success rate of industries. In order to mitigate the consequences, a fuzzy multi-criteria group decision making modeling (FMCGDM) which co...
متن کاملUnderstanding Feasibility Study Approach for Packaged Software Implementation by SMEs
Software engineering often no longer involves building systems from scratch, but rather integrating functionality from existing software and components or implementing packaged software. Conventional software engineering comprises a set of influential approaches that are often considered good practice, including structured programming, and collecting a complete set of test cases. However, these...
متن کاملDetermination of Critical Success Factors for Knowledge Management Implementation, Using Qualitative and Quantitative Tools (Case study: Bahman Automobile Industry)
The critical success factors (CSFs) of knowledge management (KM) systems are considered as areas that must be given the required attention for the successful implementation of knowledge management. In this respect and to reduce the failure risk of knowledge management projects, the current paper aims to arrive at a conceptual model by identifying and prioritizing factors for guiding research in...
